About me
I’m Sam.
I’m a fourth year Adult Apprentice, and finishing up my electrician’s licence. I spend my days doing a massive variety of work – from sorting out power on large-scale government projects, to building warehouses and homes. Civil work, new builds, home renovations, maintenance runs; everyday is crazy different. I work with a small close team.
As a career-changer with two Bachelors degrees (B.Com & B.Arts), I chose to leave the office life for the tools in 2021.
I’m a winner of the 2025 Bunnings Trade Women in Apprenticeships Award New Zealand, and was picked from over 400 nominations.
I am a founding member and current Treasurer of the group Power in Diversity.
In my spare time, I write about the Tradie life and about how women and career-changers like me can get into apprenticeships.
