About me
I’m Sam.
I’m a Residential/Commercial Electrician here in Auckland, New Zealand. A Career-changer with two Bachelors degrees (B.Com & B.Arts). In 2021, I chose to leave the office life for the tools.
I’m a fourth year adult apprentice and finishing up my licence. I spend my days doing a massive variety of work – from renovating older houses, to sorting out power on government projects. New builds, renovations, civil work, maintenance runs; everyday is crazy different. I work with a small close team.
I won the 2025 Bunnings Trade Women in Apprenticeships Award New Zealand, picked from over 400 nominations.
I am a founding member and current Treasurer of the group Power in Diversity.
In my spare time, I write about the Tradie life and about how Women and Career Changers like me can get into apprenticeships.
